Hello everyone,
I have almost recovered from the roller coaster of emotions from Saturday afternoon.
Our first cup game was against East 1 team Ross High. The team were in good spirits before the game but three quick tries from Ross High in the first 12 minutes silenced us all. However our boys pulled together and played the rugby we know they can to take the win and progress to the second round. It was a great game to watch. On top of a good win against Cougars I am sure the coaches are delighted with the start to the season. Having about good numbers at training is making a difference.
It is also great to see a number of our young players who have progressed through the youth section pulling on the jersey. They are a team on and off the pitch and it just highlights how important our youth pathway is. Our U18s have made it through to the National Bowl quarterfinals. It will be a home game against Orkney so we'll share more information once we have it.
Our minis and midis have been playing regular games and I have had the pleasure of refereeing some of them. It's great to see the work put in by our coaches and managers to get the teams out every week. Our girls and women's teams are needing to build numbers and momentum. I am helping coach at the moment and looking to build our programme back to how we had it previously.
We had some bad news after an annual safety check of our main cooker. It has been switched off for the last time. However it does give us an opportunity to look at our kitchen overall and look to see how we want to fit it out. So more news to follow.
We now have a couple of quotes for the roof for coatings so a working party is formed to look at costs and timelines.
It was fantastic to see how busy the club was for ladies day and I know there are plans coming up for more club events. So please keep your eyes peeled.
Our management committee meeting packs are shared on the noticeboard in the club. As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me or anyone on the management committee.
I will hopefully see some of you away to Dunbar on Saturday or around the club over the next few weeks
